Stride Overlay is a free GPX video editor for runners. Upload a video and the GPX file from your recorded run, then line up the start of your clip with the right moment in the activity. The preview shows the available data as your video plays.
- Export your activity as GPX. Download the recorded run from Garmin Connect, COROS, Strava, Suunto or Polar. Use an activity with timestamps, not a planned route or course.
- Add your video and sync it. Upload your own running footage and set “Video starts at GPX time” to the point in the run where the clip begins. Trim or split the footage while the GPX stays aligned with the original clip.
- Choose your stats and export. Display pace, distance, elevation, incline, heart rate, cadence, speed or power when the GPX contains the required data. Choose an elevation, pace or heart rate graph, select a format for Reels, TikTok or YouTube, and export the finished video.
Using Garmin Connect, COROS or Strava data
Export a GPX activity file from your watch platform, then upload that file here. Stride Overlay does not connect directly to your Garmin Connect, COROS or Strava account. GPX exports vary: a file without heart rate, cadence or power cannot display those metrics. In the editor, open “Where can I get my GPX file?” for illustrated steps for each platform.
Common questions
Can I add heart rate and elevation to a running video?
Yes, if your recorded GPX activity includes heart rate and elevation. The editor can overlay the available metrics and a graph that follows the current part of your run.
Can I show a course map on the video?
The GPX contains GPS track points, which the editor uses to calculate distance and pace. A course map overlay is not currently available.
Does it work with a Strava or Garmin video?
Use any video you own alongside a timestamped GPX activity exported from Strava, Garmin Connect or another supported platform. Set the GPX start time to match the moment your video begins.
